skippy in the flowers

Skippy in the flowers
Skippy is such a good sport - he sat in the middle of the wildflowers so I could take this picture.

Skippy is a beautiful PWD. My wife and I will be adopting our first PWD in June...seeing your pictures just adds to the excitement. By the way, is Skippy a wavy or curly? It's a little hard to tell based on his short cut. Also, what type of cut do you give Skippy? Is it a retriever cut, cut short? (I love the look and would like to mimic it with our PWD)!

Congratulations on your PWD on the way! Very exciting. Skippy is a wavy. I've never seen another PWD with hair as straight as Skippy's. The straight hair makes it look very velvety and soft. He has a PWD standard retriever cut. Very standard - to-the-book. We go shorter than 1 inch in the summer and 1 inch or a bit more in the winter. He's clipped every 7 weeks. Skippy gets really hot, so we tend to keep his fur shorter than most PWDs. I find it is hard to find a good groomer. But word of mouth is a great way to find one. Its a good conversation topic when you're walking your dog. And even with a good groomer, the result can be variable. Oh well. We generally like the groomers that are nicest to Skippy. Have fun with your new dog!

I appreciate all the info! My wife and I live in Virginia where it tends to be pretty hot and humid in the summer. I'll keep the shorter coat in mind during this season.

Thanks again for the added information and for posting such wonderful pictures. And yes, I would agree with a previous commenter...the pictures of Skippy are probably some of the best PWD photos on the net! Take care.
